Who wants an “Agua Fresca”?

“Cold waters” a combination of fruit, sugar and water blended together to make a refreshing natural beverage; most common in Mexico, Central America and now in the United States.

Going to a taqueria in California there always have to be aguas frescas; with the most popular flavors “Jamaica (hibiscus), Tamarindo (tamarind pods) and Horchata (rice water and cinnamon) there are other popular flavors like melon, watermelon, pineapple, strawberry, etc.

I think Horchata is the best. It is the most popular and original in Mexico , and with its texture and sweetness it makes the best combination to enjoy a really good spicy Mexican dish or simply a good taco.
Horchata water is very easy to make it requires a little patience because first you have to let some rice rest for a night with water and cinnamon sticks; but the next day you just strain this water, blended it with a little portion of the same rice and the cinnamon sticks u used, add some extra powered cinnamon, condensed milk, a little milk, ice and listo!

For making Tamarind and Hibiscus water, just boil them, strain, and add some extra water, sugar and ice. So next time you go to a taqueria or any Mexican Restaurant don’t wonder how they make this tree amazing agua frescas flavors because is easier that you thought
Just order your favorite Agua Fresca and enjoy it!
